Joints hurt when it rains?
If you are over 40 years old, you have probably had joints hurt when it rains. And more specifically, you have probably felt the tightness or soreness a day or two before it rains. So why exactly do your joints hurt when it rains?
Decreased temperature and a decrease in the barometric pressure causes the fluid (synovial fluid) in your joints to thicken and this can cause joint stiffness and pain. Now when you are young or even if you are over 40 and you have healthy joints you will not notice the slight thickening of fluid in your joints. But if your joints are thinning or you already have low grade inflammation in your joints any slight change will be noticeable to you. If your joints hurt when it rains this might be a sign that you might have an underlying joint issue that needs to be addressed. In this article from the Cleveland Clinic, they also include Humidity as another way your jointsmay hurt.
