Essential Oils for Pain Relief

Let’s discuss Seven Essential Oils for Pain Relief. This is in no means a complete list of essential oils that have been shown to provide pain relief but these are my favorite.

Essential oils are concentrated extracts of beneficial plants. These oils can be drawn from different parts of a plant through distillation, cold pressing or other mechanical method.

Before the formulation and use of over-the-counter analgesics (pain relievers) people often used plants for their beneficial properties.

Essential oils should be used in their purest form and can be very potent. Due to this potency it is important to mix essential oils with a carrier oil. Carrier oils can include coconut, jojoba, olive, almond or other pure oils.

It is also important to due a skin test to be sure there is no reaction to the oils. To do this mix one tablespoon of carrier oil with 3-5 drops of essential oil. Place mixture on unbroken skin of forearm. If there is no adverse reaction in 24-48 hours then it is safe to use.

In general, pain is a signal from the body that something needs to be addressed. The following essential oils for pain relief are not only beneficial in helping to reduce pain but also other symptoms.
