SoftWave Therapy in Tempe
Reed Chiropractic is excited to announce that we are now offering SoftWave Therapy in Tempe. The decision to invest in this cutting-edge technology for my patients and local community, was partly because of the amazing results I have experienced personally with SoftWave Therapy. Over the past year I have been dealing with chronic left hip bursitis and it started to affect my work, golf, and daily life while walking. It got so bad in January that I could not walk without crutches, let alone work. It was so painful that I resorted to getting a cortisone shot just to calm it down. The cortisone shot definitely worked reducing the pain and inflammation, but cortisone is not the answer to heal the injured tissue. I had x-rays taken of my hip and it was found that I had calcific tendonitis in the gluteus medius tendon insertion. This means that I most likely have an old tear, or long-term degeneration of the tendon from overuse and stress on the area. This would make since I put a lot of stress on my lateral hip with all the bending and lunging required to practice chiropractic. And on the weekends, I typically play a lot of golf.
I started to research different therapies and strategies to heal injury naturally with the hopes of finding a long-term solution not just a quick fix. I came across the usual stuff like PRP, Stem Cells, Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, and Cold Laser Therapy. Most are the same modalities that I have recommended to patients over the years suffering from tendon injuries or tendinosis. In my experience many of these procedures, especially Stem Cell injections are extremely expensive and have mixed reviews of effectiveness. However, there was one other therapy that kept coming up, and that was ShockWave Therapy. It has been around for many years but has been under the radar until recently. In the past 5 years the research has exploded and has been showing amazing resulting in treating tendon injuries and degenerative joint conditions.
Over the past 20 years the technology has advanced, and the new generation of units have shown to be very effective. The ShockWave Therapy market is very diverse in how the ShockWaves are deliver to the tissue. There are focused shockwave, unfocused shockwaves, and even ultra focused shockwaves. There are devices that use piezoelectric waves, electromagnetic waves, acoustic pneumatic waves, and electrohydraulic waves. Some of the big names in this space are Storz D-actor 100-200, Storz Duolith, Piezowave, Sanuwave DermaPACE, and SoftWave. The more I learned it seems like it is kind of like the wild west right now in the shockwave market, there is an explosion of companies with different types of shockwave units. I think it is because of the great results that this technology is bringing to patients with chronic tendon injuries and degenerative joint pain.
So back to my story, and how I decided to treat my patients with shockwave therapy in Tempe. I had a couple of Chiropractor friends that both have recently purchased the SoftWave.trt unit. They both told me about the great results that they were seeing on their patients and their own injures like mine. I found an office in Mesa, that had the SoftWave Technology and started treatment. To date I have had 10 treatments over the past 3 months. After the first visit I felt a difference, less pain and greater ROM. I was able to get back to working with little pain and was able to start playing golf again within a few weeks. I decided to take a new x-ray after 6 months since my initial x-ray that showed the calcification in my tendon. I am happy to report that the calcification in my tendon is virtually gone. For me, the SoftWave.trt unit flat out works! I did not do any other therapy, treatment, or take any medications so I feel that the ShockWave was the answer.
Before and after X-Ray: Left July 2024, Right January 2024.
I am not out of the woods yet, but I am on my way. There are days that i will still feel a mild tightness, pull or ache in my lateral hip but it is not affecting my life anymore. When a tendon is chronically stressed and starts to degenerate the body will lay down calcium to protect the area. Now that the calcium has been resolved using ShockWave Therapy my tissues can become more elastic and start the process of healing the tendon. Studies show that after 6-8 sessions of SoftWave Therapy and 12-14 weeks of time, the maxamum amount of resident stem cells are produced to the area. That means that my body is primed and ready to start healing my gluteus medius tendon naturally.
Enough about me, and let’s talk about you. Shortly after I started treatment in January, I realized that SoftWave Therapy was a game changer. So, I contracted with Fig Wellness Therapy in Mesa to provide this amazing service to my patients and see if they got the same results as i did personally. It was not long before I saw some of the most amazing results in patients that have been suffering from chronic joint pains. I saw patients who were in told they needed knee replacements to being 80-90% pain free after only a few sessions. Patients with chronic plantar fasciitis got back to running and hiking after only a few weeks. I had a patient that was still in pain 6 months after shoulder surgery sleep through the night for the first time after only 2 treatments. Using ShockWave Therapy and nothing else, I treated multiple patients with golfers’ elbow, tennis elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome and they all had great results within 4-6 treatments. I can’t unsee what I have seen, the results that I have witnessed using the SoftWave, trt machine have been awesome! It is for this reason, that I was compelled to bring SoftWave ShockWave Therapy to Tempe. I chose to purchase the SoftWave unit because it is the only unfocused ShockWave unit on the market, penetrates the deepest, and in my opinion is the most comfortable. The unfocused acoustic wave produced by the SoftWave unit allows for a greater treatment area and the need for less treatment sessions.
