Natural Solutions for Chronic Pain

Are you in pain? We have natural solutions for chronic pain.

We often consider pain as annoying. Simple tasks we perform everyday can all of sudden become challenges simply because it hurts to move. Even though we hate being in pain, the sensation is actually a blessing in disguise! Why? Because pain is our body’s way of telling us there is something wrong. Without that feeling, we’d be walking around with injuries of all sorts, slowly causing more and more damage to our bodies and never solving the problem.

Just last week I burnt my hand, but I was quickly able to run it under cool water and apply aloe. Though I was irritated at the time, I’m glad I’m not nursing a huge blister now. Burns and scrapes have an obvious origin, and are easy to treat as well, however oftentimes pain is more severe with no clear reason as to why we are experiencing it. So what reasons could lead us to experience chronic pain?

Car accidents and physical trauma are one of the most common reasons for chronic pain.  After a whiplash the tissues are stretched and torn leading to scar tissue and ultimately chronic pain.  This can be negated with proper early treatment but most people wait too long before they seek treatment and the end result can be a lifetime of chronic stiffness and pain.

Physical well-being and mental well-being are very closely related. Too much psychological stress can lead to emotional trauma. This could set off a series of events on the molecular level, leading to the release of inflammatory chemicals in our bodies, leading to chronic pain.

A large factor in both physical and mental well-being is sleep. Our body does most of its growing and recovering while we sleep, so if we disturb our natural sleep-wake cycle, we aren’t giving our body ample time recuperate

Much of what we do or do not put in our body can lead to chronic pain as well. What is the first thing most people do when they feel some sort of pain or discomfort? They reach for pills. While painkillers may provide temporary relief, taking them too often can lead the body to develop a resistance to them. Sometimes, patients who take painkillers can even end up with an increased sensitivity to pain.

Diet has a huge effect as well. Too many grains can lead to an increase in the permeability of the intestines, meaning food particles or bacteria could enter the bloodstream causing chronic pain. Many people don’t get enough magnesium in their diets too, which is important in protecting against a hypersensitivity to pain on a molecular level.

Chronic pain is not the end, though! There are many ways to treat chronic pain and get well including changing your diet, getting a therapeutic massage, acupuncture, and most importantly getting regular chiropractic adjustments!
