Chiropractic For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Chiropractic for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a must if you want to address the root cause. Carpal tunnel syndrome or “CTS” is a hand and/or arm condition which can cause any or all of these symptoms: numbness, tingling, pain, cramping, and weakness. CTS is caused when a nerve is pinched in the wrist also known as the carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is bound by bones and ligaments which are so close together they form a narrow passageway located on the palm side of your wrist. This passageway houses the main nerve to your hand and nine tendons that allow your fingers to bend. When this tunnel is compressed the nerve and tendons can also compressed which produces the numbness, tingling, pain, and hand weakness.

CTS is most commonly a repetitive stress syndrome, this category of injuries is caused by repetitive motion such as typing on a computer or working on an assembly line. Another cause of nerve impingement can actually be coming from the neck. The nerves that control the arm and fingers come from the lower neck. These nerves travel through the shoulder, elbow, and wrist and end in the fingers. Any of these places can become out of alignment and affect the nerve flow and cause the symptoms of carpal tunnel.

A chiropractor is able to check to see if any of these areas: neck, shoulder, elbow, and wrist have been misaligned. If this is the case a trained chiropractor can adjust these segments back into alignment over time and help take the pressure of the affected nerve. This will lead to decrease in symptoms and help relieve the carpal tunnel. So yes chiropractic for carpal tunnel syndrome is the way to go for a long tern solution.
