How Heavy Should My Child’s Backpack Weigh?

Importance of Backpack Safety for your Child

Backpacks are a practical way for your child to carry what they need for each school day.  It can also be a factor in creating neck, back and shoulder problems if not addressed properly.

“Back pain is pervasive among American adults, however it is not uncommon among children and teens either. In a new and disturbing trend, young children are suffering from back pain much earlier than previous generations, and the use of overweight backpacks is a contributing factor”- according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).

Studies show that the longer a child wears a backpack the longer it takes a poor curvature or spinal abnormality to be corrected.  If worn properly these life altering deformities can be minimized.
