Chronic Hip Pain Fix

Do you suffer from chronic hip pain? Do you want a chronic hip pain fix? If you have hip pain that has been bothering you for more than 3 months, I would suggest that you read this blog and try our chronic hip pain fix.

Chronic Hip Pain Conditions:

  • Hip bursitis (Trochanteric Bursitis)
  • Hip arthritis
  • Pelvic Dysfunction
  • Lumbar Radiculopathy

In this blog I am going to only focus on the most common condition I see in my office. I do see many patients with bone-on-bone hip arthritis and spinal dysfunction, but the vast majority of patients that come in with chronic hip pain is a result of lateral Hip Bursitis.

Common Causes of Hip Bursitis

  • Lateral Hip trauma
  • Improper sitting or standing posture
  • Sports like running, golf, tennis
  • Tightness in the IT Band
  • Weak Gluteus Medius Muscles
  • Sleeping on your side at night
  • Sitting with your legs crossed
  • Standing with a lateral weight shift

Chronic Hip Pain Fix:

Step 1: Get evaluated by a Chiropractor, Physical Therapist, or Orthopedic physician. Find out why you are having the pain. In our office we will start with a thorough hip evaluation and x-rays. In 20 min we will be most likely able to diagnose exactly what is causing your pain. For the purpose if this blog I will focus on the diagnosis of lateral hip bursitis or Trochanteric Bursitis.

Step 2: Identify any lifestyle activities that are causing stress on your lateral hip bursa. In my experience the two most common ones are sleeping on your side and crossing the legs while sitting. A close 3rd would be long periods of standing when your weight is shifted to one side or the other.

Step 3: Identify any tight and or weak muscles of the hip and pelvis. This may be hard to do on your own so I would recommend for this to be performed by a chiropractor or physical therapist.

Step 4: Address the muscle tightness and or muscle weakness issues. In my experience the two most common culprits are tight IT bands and weak Gluteus Medius muscles.

There are a lot of great videos on YouTube showing you how to stretch and strengthen this area, but this is my favorite one. Click Here
